Bob Wire: Listen!

Finding Barbie's Shoes

(Bob Wire)
Ednor C. Therriault
Based on many, many true stories. I wanted to add a few more sound effects, but it was in danger of becoming a Spike Jones tribute.
Froot Loops in the kitchen sink, Hot Wheels in the hall
I’ve reached the point where that stuff doesn’t bother me at all
The house might not be spotless—in fact, it’s quite a mess
And my son just flushed my daughter’s Easter dress

I used to read the Sunday paper lying in my bed
I’d stay there sipping coffee ‘til I got the whole thing read
Nowadays my weekends are filled up with soccer games
And trying to remember other parents’ names

Chorus
PTA and picture day and watching Scooby-Doo
Banana peels and training wheels and field trips to the zoo
Every day is laundry day, I’m barely keeping up
Last night I had a cocktail in a purple sippie cup
No time to read the paper, got no time to watch the news
I’m more concerned with finding Barbie’s shoes

Poker used to be my game but now it’s Crazy Eights
I eat a lot of mac ‘n cheese off Cartoon Channel plates
I listen to Bill Harley, when I used to like the Stones
And Fisher-Price makes half the stuff I own

One day it occurred to me this little boy and girl
Are easily the biggest marks I’ll leave upon this world
Watching them grow up is making me a better man
I suspect it was their mother’s secret plan

Chorus
PTA and picture day and watching Scooby-Doo
Banana peels and training wheels and field trips to the zoo
Every day is laundry day, I’m barely keeping up
Last night I had a cocktail in a purple sippie cup
No time to read the paper, got no time to watch the news
I’m more concerned with finding Barbie’s shoes
I spend my time finding Barbie’s shoes
