Vision In Neon

Duet with Tom Catmull (www.tomcatmull.com)
I was playing in a honky tonk, it must have been a million years ago
The whole crowd was dancing, we were putting on one hell of a show
We were playing Hank Williams, the stage was about to catch fire
And then I saw something that flooded my heart with desire

Her emerald eyes locked on mine and my ears started ringing
I couldn’t remember the words to the song I was singing
She sat on a barstool, swaying to “Your Cheatin’ Heart”
I knew at that moment that nothing would keep us apart

Chorus
She’s a vision in neon
My honky tonk girl
She smells like red roses
And glows like a pearl
The look on her face
Could launch an ocean of ships
The hint of a smile
Always there on her lips

The band kept on rocking, the tip jar was filling with green
With last call approaching, I rushed them through “Goodnight Irene”
The folks wanted more, but I pushed through the crowd to the bar
When I got there my angel was gone like a bright shooting star

I asked the bartender if he saw her leave here alone
He lifted a shoulder and went off to answer the phone
I returned to the stage and saw something that gave my heart wings
A lipstick kiss on my guitar and a note in the strings

Chorus
