Yeah, we used to own this place. This Friday night, Sept. 3, I will rise up and reclaim what is mine. Best place to dance in Missoula, with the best band you'll ever see in your entire natural life ever. But I don't want to overstate it or anything. See you there at 9:00! NO COVER!
New Shows Added! - July 20, 2010
We're laying down the Maximum Honky Tonk through the summer, right into the fall. Hope to see you at Downtown Tonight this Thursday, July 22, and back in the Union Club in September and October! Details over on the Calendar page. Now git!
Bitterroot Brewing May 20, 2010 - May 19, 2010
I can't get the calendar thingy to update on the html whositz, so I'm telling you right here, right now, that I'll be entertaining the fine folks at Bitterroot Brewing Co. in Hamilton Thursday night. It's a bedtime-friendly gig, 6:00 - 8:00. I'm breaking out a few new tunes, which may wind up on the next album.
Hope to see you there this Thursday, May 20. Now git!
Solo Bob at Bitterroot Brewing - February 14, 2010
Thursday night, Feb. 18. Some potent honky tonk, and potent beer, mixed with some of the coolest folks in the Bitterroot. It's going to be a couple of hours of just me, my guitar, and my big mouth. Join us at 6:00. Now git!
Live shows in Butte and Helena - January 25, 2010
The Montana Matters "Fenceline Concert Series" kicks off Friday, Feb. 5 with a killer show in Butte. Joining me at the Butte Depot will be Tim Ryan, Grammy-winner Sonny LeMaire (Exile), and my sometime partner in crime Shane Clouse.
The next night, we'll be at the GrandStreet Theatre in Helena.
I'll be busting out a couple of new songs, including the future smash hit, "Mr. Bubble Saved My Marriage."
We're raising funds for Montana Matters, a non-profit group that works to preserve Montana's dwindling recreational lands. For more information, go to montanamatters.com. Hope to see you there!
BUFFALOAD reviewed at EvO:R - November 12, 2009
I've posted Charlie Harrelson's review of Buffaload over on the Reviews/Press page. I'm yet again tagged as an "average" singer (why do you think they call me the Burlap Fog?), but he likes the music and the stories.
I'm always gratified when a CD gets reviewed, but more so when the reviewer has obviously spent some time with the music before sitting down at his/her keyboard.
Check out the EvO:R.com site - there's lots of great independent music there. Now git!
Your Event Needs Some Bob Wire - October 29, 2009
I'm now listed at gigmasters.com for booking purposes.
I'm not actively booking bar gigs with my band, but if you want me to light up your party with the Magnificent Bastards, we'll be there to keep the dance floor rockin' all night.
The press kit states that I'll travel up to 100 miles to play a show, but that's just for search purposes. I'll travel to hell and back if that's what it takes, and you're willing to spring for transportation! (I think only Southwest Airlines goes there.)
Go to gigmasters.com/acousticguitar/BobWire for all information, and to request a quote.
Solo CD underway - October 12, 2009
I'm recording a solo acoustic CD over the winter, with no backing band, no guest musicians, not even any electric guitars! Got four songs in the can so far, and I have to say it might be some of my best work yet. I'm hoping to get it on the street by next spring.
Solo shows scheduled - October 12, 2009
I'm playing solo these days, starting this Thursday, Oct. 15, at Bitterroot Brewing in Hamilton. The show is from 6:00 - 8:00, and if you haven't been, you're missing one of the best brewpub experiences in Western Montana. Bob sez check it out!
And then next week I'll be doing a solo concert at The Cellars, Missoula's new winery out near Airport Blvd. Check out the calendar for details.
$5.00 SALE! - August 5, 2009
I'm blowing out my remaining stock of 'American Piehole' CDs for only $5.00 a copy. That's right, 14 original songs from my first solo album (complete with the Buck Owens tribute artwork) for only a fin. Click over to CDBaby and go to their $5 sale page. As always, thank you for your support.
CDBaby Is Fixed - August 5, 2009
Well, they managed to get it together (after much complaining and whining on my part), and 'Buffaload' is now available at CDBaby for the low low price of only $12.97.
So now you have no excuse: click over to the Buy the CD page, and you'll be ushered to the new-and-improved CDBaby website. Thanks for your support.
CDBaby Is Busted - July 30, 2009
I've always made my CDs available online through CDBaby, but the Portland company was sold last year by its founder, Derek Sivers. They managed to tread water for awhile, but then decided to lose Derek's personal approach and easy-to-use ordering system, and revamp the whole enchilada.
The result is an unmitigated disaster. They have pissed off thousands and thousands of independent artists (read the forums on their site), and left us in limbo regarding accounting, CD sales, and promotion through their site.
They're still sitting on a few copies of my three solo CDs, but I am now recommending that people order from me directly through PayPal. Drop me an email, and I'll give you the simple instructions. Thanks.
They let me sing the National Anthem - July 13, 2009
Here I am at an Osprey game on July 11 in Missoula, singing the Star Spangled Banner. Most of it was even on-key! Due to my lack of computing knowledge, it cuts of at one minute. Right before the big finish when my hair catches on fire and a plane crashes in the background while my pants fall down.
BUFFALOAD in stores now - July 9, 2009
Latest news on the Buffaload CD: it's on the shelves at Rockin' Rudy's, Ear Candy, Hastings, and Budget CDs.
It will be available by next week at CDBaby as well, and you can certainly buy a copy at the Osprey game on Saturday, July 11 when the band plays a pregame concert there.
I'm refusing to stock it at Wal-Mart, no matter how much they beg me.
Robbie Fulks On Michael Jackson - June 30, 2009
Robbie is one of my favorite artists, and it's pretty obvious he's influenced my own songwriting to some degree.
Here's what he had to say on nodepression.net about the death of Michael Jackson. Pretty thought-provoking stuff.
The new CD is complete, and is currently being manufactured in two different locations.
It's the same set of songs, just the packaging will be different. Hot-off-the-press copies of Buffaload will be available for the low low price of $12.00 at the Biker Fest Family Picnic in Philipsburg on the 4th of July weekend.
When I'm not controlling the trout population at nearby Georgetown Lake, the Magnificent Bastards and I will be tearin' it up when the sun goes down for a street dance Friday and Saturday night in fabulous P'burg.
If you've never been, it's one of the coolest places in Western Montana. And if you have been, well, it's still one of the coolest places in Western Montana.
So join us if you can for a weekend of kids fun, free camping, a poker run and show 'n shine for the bikes. Lots more going on, go to bikersanctuary.com for details.
The full-on retail version of the disc will be in stores about a week later. Click over to the Listen page to sample the new Bob Wire goodness.
Now git!
New Shows Added! - April 8, 2009
I've finally gotten around to updating our calendar, so I encourage, nay, IMPLORE you to click over to the calendar page and see if there's a show that catches your fancy.
Damn, who writes this crap?
"Go Butte!" free download - March 17, 2009
Thanks for tracking my website down. If you are here because you saw the interview on Monday on KPAX in Missoula, well shucks, I guess I'm enjoying my 15 minutes of fame. And you can enjoy another 2:40 when you click over to the music page and download the mp3 of the song. It rocks. That's Bob Sularz on the drums.
If you're spending St. Patrick's Day in Butte, tune in to KMBR...they might play the song! Now git!
Recording News - March 9, 2009
I've passed the halfway mark with the next CD project, working title "Tender and Flaky." Got eight songs tracked, and most are now mixed down and awaiting mastering. I think it will be ready for release sometime in May or June.
I've asked a couple of local musical luminaries to contribute their talents on this one, but I can't spill any names until I actually have them on tape.
One name I can spill is that of White Trash Watson, who was in Missoula last weekend for the Hank III show at the Wilma. Watson was in my first band, Rotten Tuna, and also played with me in the trio PotatoHeads in Denver in the late 80's. He brought his harp-playing bud "Painless" Brad, and I got them to sit still long enough to lay down a couple of tracks in my studio. Hopefully I can include their work on the upcoming album. We'll see how it turned out now that we've all sobered up.
"Go Butte!" is going to be included on a compilation CD of Montana musicians entited "Montana Matters," a fundraiser for environmental concerns in the state. I'll post more details here as they become available.
With the demise of the Top Hat, our schedule has opened up somewhat, and the band is actively seeking gigs. I'll get the calendar updated today, and please let me know if you know of anywhere in W. Montana where we'd be welcome.
That is all. Now git!
Live Wire on the Radio Jan. 16 - January 13, 2009
This Friday at noon I'll be lurking in the Trail 103.3 studios here in Missoula, hanging out with Tracy Lopez for their Live 'n Local segment. I might play one of my new songs, I might let a dirty word or two slip, I don't know. If there's a mic in front of me, you never know.
You can listen in on the web. Go to trail1033.com for streaming radio. It's the best station in town, and the one that most supports local artists.
